Therapy

in Brighton & Hove and Online

I am an experienced psychotherapist based in Brighton, UK. I offer weekly one to one therapy, combining clinical knowledge with a down-to-earth and straightforward approach.

There are many reasons why people decide to come to therapy

It might be that you are feeling stuck and frustrated but you don’t know why, and you’d like the space and time to get clearer about what it is that is bothering you. Or, perhaps, you know what you want to explore but you would like some help to address those thoughts, feelings and behaviours that you find challenging.

There is something both supportive and practical about taking some dedicated time each week to sift through the complexity of your life, and come to understand yourself and your motivations more fully. What therapy provides is a space to be really heard, with the kind of attention that is deeper and more focused than that available in everyday conversations.

Some of the most common reasons for beginning therapy are to:

  • improve your self-esteem

  • cope with work related stress

  • understand relationship difficulties

  • heal from trauma

  • navigate life transitions

  • reduce anxiety

  • make sense of your depression

  • deal with a loss or bereavement

  • process difficult childhood experiences

  • explore identity issues

With the safety of an inviting, confidential and non-judgemental space in which to express and explore your thoughts and feelings,  you will begin to develop a kinder and more open relationship with yourself. The desire to know yourself, be yourself and express yourself authentically is often the deeper reason for choosing to undertake a course of therapy.

What ever your motivation you are most welcome to contact me to discuss the possibility of working together.

About Me

I am an experienced UKCP registered Psychotherapist (membership no. 2011174044) My practice adheres to The UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapy from Re-Vision, a small but highly regarded training centre in London, where the emphasis is on counselling and psychotherapy with a Soulful perspective.

It is my belief that psychotherapy is not about seeking perfection, but rather, acceptance of all of our emotions, good, bad and indifferent, and holding a place where you can think and feel about them all.

If you choose to work with me, I hope you will find me to be warm, down-to-earth and non-judgemental. I bring to my counselling practice a genuine curiosity about people and their problems and a desire to help you come to know, accept and appreciate yourself and your motivations more fully.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are
— C.G. Jung

I am committed to my own personal and professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge through ongoing participation in professional training programmes. My own experience of long-term therapy was instrumental in my decision to train as a counsellor and I am very aware of the benefits and also the challenges of the therapeutic journey.

Practicalities

Research strongly identifies that it is the quality of the relationship between the therapist and client that is the single biggest factor in successful outcomes for therapy. It is, therefore, a good idea to meet for an initial consultation and see if we could work well together.

When you first contact me by email, text or voicemail l will get back to you as soon as possible. If you would like a brief phone conversation before booking an appointment just let me know in your message.

Our first session is a chance for us to meet and get a sense of one another. You can let me know what brings you to counselling, and what you’re hoping to get from it and we can discuss any questions you might have.

Once we begin our work together we will establish an agreement that will make clear the nature of the sessions and the boundaries that we each will observe — around confidentiality, cancellations, timekeeping, costs and a commitment to regular weekly sessions.

I offer one-to-one therapy to adults (16+ years) on either a short-term or an open-ended basis.

My practice is LGBTQI+ affirmative.

I am committed to providing therapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.

Times and Locations:

I work at New Road Psychotherapy Centre, in Hove, and Central Brighton. Both offices are well served by public transport. Please note that neither location is currently wheelchair accessible.

I also offer online therapy.
